(TIFFIN, Ohio) – The Walsh women's tennis team had a tough go at Tiffin today as it fell 8-1 in GLIAC action at the PM Gillmore Courts. The Cavaliers fall to 2-3 both overall and in the GLIAC while the Dragons improve to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Cavs' lone point came at No. 2 singles as Daria Bondareva (Jr., St. Petersburg, Russia/HS) took Valentina Mazzola in three sets. Bondareva shut her opponent out in the first 6-0 before she dropped the second set 6-3. Bondareva rebounded to finish off Mazzola easily in the third with a 6-2 decision.
Sofya Logunova (Jr., Prague, Czech Republic/Russian Embassy School) and Bondareva also played a tough No. 1 doubles match, but ultimately lost to the duo of Caroline Nehlhage and Aimee Kaye 8-6.
The Cavs wrap up the weekend in Northwestern Ohio with a match against Findlay tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
