(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Ohio Dominican used a dominant first set and rode momentum to a 3-0 sweep of Walsh by scores of 25-9, 25-22, and 25-16 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Cavaliers drop to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in GLIAC play after the opening weekend. The Panthers improved to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Walsh's closest opportunity to win a set came in the second game. Walsh trailed 20-15 before making a rally of four consecutive points en route to tying the match at 22-22, but ODU was able to take the next three points for the win and a 2-0 lead.

The Cavs' attack was spread around as Gina Kramer (So., Maria Stein, Ohio/Marion Local), Paolo Ferrario (Fr., Gorla Minore, Italy/Liceo dello Sport), and Liza Pflugradt (Jr., Lake Zurich, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) all had six kills. Defensively Kaitlin Bronikowski (Jr., Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) topped the team with 17 digs. Haley Howell (Jr., Clarkston, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes) helped the offense out with 17 assists, but didn't do too bad on the attacking end as she sneaked in four kills.

Walsh returns to action next weekend against two strong opponents in Ferris State and Grand Valley State. The Bulldogs visit North Canton first as they play Walsh on Friday at 7 p.m.
