Women's Tennis Comes From Behind At Findlay

(FINDLAY, Ohio) – The Walsh women's tennis team rebounded from yesterday's loss with a 5-4 defeat of Findlay in come-from-behind fashion. The Cavaliers evened their record at 3-3 both overall and in the GLIAC. The Oilers drop to 0-6 in the same categories.

Sofya Logunova (Jr., Prague, Czech Republic/Russian Embassy School) and Daria Bondareva (Jr., St. Petersburgh, Russia/HS) started off with a narrow 8-6 victory in No. 1 doubles. Findlay answered by winning the second and third doubles matches for a 2-1 lead before singles play. Bondareva went 2-0 on the day with a win at No. 2 singles by a pair of 6-4 scores.

Asia Harris (Sr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/CVCA) and Arina Kravitz (Sr., Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman) both had dominant wins in singles play. Harris won 6-0, 6-1 while Kravits scored a pair of 6-1 sets. Gabriela Laguna-Levin added the other point at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win.

The Cavaliers now have a break from conference play as they gear up for the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament next weekend. It will be played at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind., and starts Friday.
