Box Score (PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Two first half goals were too much for the Walsh men's soccer team to overtime as it fell 6-1 to hosting Lake Erie College Friday afternoon in GLIAC action. The Cavaliers fell to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference while the Storm improved to 2-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the GLIAC.
It didn't take long for Lake Erie to light up the scoreboard as Stuart Campbell scored on an assist by Ryan Gibson just 3:22 in for the early lead. The Strom struck again before the 15-minute mark as Joseph Coombs found the back of the net on an assist from Stefan Martin.
The second half started off similar to the first with another goal by Campbell, this time 5:22 into the second half, on another assist from Gibson.
Walsh eventually got on the board 10 minutes later with a goal by Brett Sparks (So., Brush Prairie, Wash./Hockinson), but the Storm came back with a goal of its own 52 seconds later and added two more late to set up the final.
Walsh returns home to Milazzo Field with a GLIAC contest against Ohio Dominican this Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
