Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Four starters scored in double figures as Walsh cruised to an 83-60 victory over Lake Erie at Alumni Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (8-6, 6-4) made it a perfect weekend to start play against the GLIAC South Division while the Storm (7-9, 4-6) split after a narrow win against Malone.
It didn't take long for the Cavs to get heated up as they jumped out to a double-digit lead just over five minutes into the game when Jesse Hardin Jr. scored a layup to put Walsh up 17-6. He was just getting started as he finished with a game-high 26 points.
Hardin Jr. was 8-of-14 overall from the field and blistered the nets with seven treys to add to his league-leading total for the season. He added six rebounds and four assists on the day as well.
Walsh pushed its lead to as many as 27 points late in the second half. In addition to Hardin Jr., Trey Fletcher, Zac Carter, and Chall Montgomery all hit double figures. Fletcher was a force all over the court as he scored 18 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and dished out six assists.
Carter scored 13 points and also had six assists, while Montgomery poured in 11 points.
Steven Carpenter came off the bench to score seven points and seven rebounds. Three of those caroms were on the offensive end and led directly to seven second-chance points for the Cavs.
Walsh returns to action Thursday as it hosts Ohio Dominican. Tip-off with the Panthers is set for 7:30 p.m.
