Box Score 2 (AURORA, Ill.) – Despite being just outside of the Windy City of Chicago, Walsh and Malone met in the first session of the Midwest Regional Volleyball Tournament. Similar to their match a few weeks ago, the Cavaliers defeated the Pioneers 3-1.
The Cavs (6-12) dropped the first set to the Pioneers (4-18) 25-22, but rebounded to win the next three 25-23, 25-17, and 25-17.
Three players reached double figures in kills with Gina Kramer leading the way with 13. Paola Ferrario followed with 12 and Lauren Loucks had 11. Olivia Zanolli had 37 assists setting up the attack. Defensively Amanda Adoranti recorded 11 digs.
The Cavs looked to go 2-0 on the day in the next match against Wisconsin-Parkside, but fell to the Rangers in five sets 21-25, 19-25, 25-8, 25-11, 15-9.
Kramer again led the attack with 16 kills and was aided by Loucks with 14. Zanolli tallied 42 assists. Adoranti dug up 10 attacks.
The Cavaliers will close out the crossover tomorrow against Maryville at 2 p.m.
