(CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh picked up its first GLIAC win of the season with a 7-2 victory over Findlay in women's tennis action at the Hall of Fame Courts in Canton on Sunday. The Cavaliers are now 2-5 overall on the year and 1-5 in conference play. The Oilers are now 1-5 overall and in conference play.

The Cavs jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins at the first and third pairings. Sofya Logunova and Mercedes Fernandez were once again dominant with an 8-3 win over Tijana Raicevic and Sheridan McLean of the Oilers. Daria Bondareva and Snezhana Kiseleva were also victorious over Kaylee Davis and Allison Reichert of Findlay by the same score.

In singles play, Walsh cruised to the victory with wins in all but one matchup. Logunova had a tough match a first singles but was victorious with wins by scores of 6-4 and 7-5 over Findlay's Matina Matic. Fernandez played well at second singles with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Raicevic.

Bondareva had the most impressive match of the day with a straight-set shutout of McLean. Gabriela Laguna-Leon defeated Davis 6-2, 7-5 at fifth singles. Kiseleva scored a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Kristi McDonald at the sixth spot.

The Cavs will hit the road for next week's matches against Northwood and Saginaw Valley State. The Timberwolves are the first team up on the slate and the two teams will meet Friday at 10 a.m.
