Cavs Draw With ODU, Remain In Hunt For Playoffs

Box Score

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Regulation and overtime wasn't enough for Walsh and Ohio Dominican as both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in GLIAC action Sunday afternoon. It was the fourth tie of the season for the Cavaliers (8-5-4, 3-4-3) and fifth for the Panthers (5-6-5, 4-3-3).

The Cavaliers struck first with an early goal by Brianna Sanborn on an assist from Olivia Peters just over five minutes into the game. That score held up until the 57th minute when ODU equalized on a score by Alli Pavlik on an assist from Kelly Johnson.

The Panthers continued to pelt the Cavaliers with shots in the second half and outshot the Maroon and Gold 14-6 in the period. The overtime periods were much different as all six shots taken were by Walsh. Five of them were in the second overtime, but only one was on goal.

Dani Shambaugh had another strong game in goal with seven saves in the 110 minutes.

Walsh now returns home for the final regular season game where it will host Lake Erie on Friday. A win will secure a spot in the GLIAC Tournament the first week of November.
