Box Score (SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.) – Zac Carter and Trey Fletcher combined for 53 points, but it wasn't enough as Walsh fell to Lake Superior State 99-73 in GLIAC action Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers fall to 8-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference on the season, while the Lakers improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the GLIAC.
Carter went for 24 in the second half alone and was 9-of-20 from the floor overall with four 3-pointers en route to a game-best 33 points. He was 11-of-12 from the free throw line as well. Fletcher recorded his third double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Chandler Vaudrin also added 11 rebounds to share game-high honors.
Lake Superior State was led by the GLIAC's top scorer in Akaemji Williams who scored 30 points and dished out eighth assists. Three other Lakers also scored in double figures.
Turnovers hurt the Cavs as 15 miscues led to 24 points for Lake State. The hosts also outscored the Cavaliers 40-20 inside the paint.
The Cavaliers are now off for Christmas break and won't return to action until Friday, Dec. 30, when they host Penn State-Altoona. Walsh will tip-off with the Lions that evening at 6.
