(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Walsh went on the road and defeated Ohio Dominican by a score of 80-67 in GLIAC action on Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (16-7, 13-5) and Panthers (18-6, 13-5) are now tied for second place in the South Division and third overall in the conference.

With the victory, Walsh just needs one more win or a Findlay loss to clinch its second consecutive playoff appearance.

ODU initially took a 10-5 lead over the first six minutes of play, but the Cavaliers responded with a 15-2 run to close the first quarter and start the second. It gave Walsh a 20-12 lead and one it wouldn't relinquish.

The Panthers did make a final charge with a 7-0 run to start the fourth quarter, but a jumper by Brooklyn Wooten (Jr., Grove City, Ohio/Central Crossing) and a trey by Kelsey Funderburgh (Sr., North Lewisburg, Ohio/Triad) put the Cavs back up eight. After ODU scored a layup, the duo paired together in the same fashion to give Walsh a 67-56 lead with 4:17 to go in the game.

Wooten had one of her best games of the season as she went 8-of-12 from the field for a game-high 22 points. She also added six rebounds, three assists, a pair of steals, and a block. Funderburgh had a strong night herself with 19 points with six 3-pointers. She had 12 at the half.

Brittni Clopton (So., Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) was also impressive for the Maroon and Gold as she recorded her fourth double-double of the season. She was 6-of-9 on the floor with 12 rebounds, six of which were on the offensive end. It helped Walsh control the glass by a 43-30 margin over the Panthers.

Lauren Bates paced ODU with 14 points. Melissa Scherpenberg added 13 points and 12 rebounds for her own double-double.

With four games left and a four-game lead over Findlay, Walsh will look to secure a spot in the GLIAC tournament against Tiffin on Saturday. It's the Cavs' 33 Days 'Til St. Patrick's Day promotion. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
