(CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh women's tennis team made quick work of future conference foe Alderson Broaddus with a 9-0 shutout at the Hall of Fame Courts on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers (5-12) picked up their first win in six matches, while the Battlers (1-6) have dropped their last four contests.

The Cavs jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with impressive doubles play. In the 27 games that were played, Walsh was on the winning end in 24 of them. Sofya Logunova and Daria Bondareva were the only duo to get a shutout with an 8-0 thrashing at No. 1 doubles. Asia Harris and Arina Kravitz won their No. 2 doubles match 8-1, while Snezhana Kiseleva and Gabriela Laguna-Leon won the third spot 8-2.

Walsh was equally impressive in singles competition. The closest AB came to winning any set was 6-3. Kiseleva was the only Cavalier to record a perfect match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Logunova almost equaled the feat with a 6-0, 6-1 thrashing at No. 1 singles.

Kravitz and Laguna-Leon both won the fifth and sixth spots by 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 scores, respectively. Bondareva won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-3. Harris equaled those scores with a quick win at No. 3 singles.

Walsh will return to action in a couple of weeks when it heads to the Sunshine State for spring break. The Cavaliers' first match will come against Bloomsburg in Melbourne, Florida.
