Box Score 2 (NASHVILLE, Tenn.) – Walsh fell to Missouri-St. Louis and Trevecca Nazarene in the final two matches of the Scott Jones Classic on Saturday. The Cavaliers (3-4) will now start conference play this week with Lake Erie next up on the docket in a road contest on Friday.
The Cavs opened up the day with The Tritons of UMSL and fell in straight sets 25-22, 25-14, 26-24. Paola Ferrario led the offense with 13 kills on 27 attempts for an impressive 44 percent success rate. Lauren Loucks added 11 kills. Olivia Zanolli added 32 assists and paced the team defensively with 16 digs. Amanda Adoranti added 13.
In the final match of the tournament, Walsh dropped the first set 25-18 before it came back to even the match with a 26-24 win in the second. The Trojans responded with wins in the next two sets 25-18 and 25-15.
Justine Coffman tallied 10 kills in the final match. Gina Kramer and Loucks each added eight. Zanolli recorded 34 assists and 10 digs, third behind Adoranti with 16 and Erica Schiets with 12.
Walsh was impressive in the front with eight blocks. Kennedy Hawkins was a part of six with one solo shutdown and five assists.
