Box Score (ASHLAND, Ohio) – Two first half goals weren't enough for Walsh as it fell to Ashland on the road by a score of 3-2 in GLIAC action Sunday. It was the first conference loss for the Cavaliers (5-2-1, 1-1) while the Eagles (5-0-2, 2-0) remained unbeaten.
Sarah Berger scored her second goal of the season to give the Cavs a 1-0 lead after she scored off a turnover in the middle of the field. Olivia Peters followed up with her GLIAC-leading seventh goal of the season to put Walsh up 2-0 heading into the break.
In the second half, the Eagles regrouped and scored just over one minute in on a cross from a corner kick. Ashland equalized three minutes later. In the 67th minute, the Eagles' Emily Ledbetter scored from the left side to give the hosts the lead and final score.
Walsh outshot Ashland 9-7 overall with a 5-2 edge in a dominant first half. The Eagles then put the pressure on in the second half and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks with a 5-2 difference in the second half.
The Cavs will close out their stretch of six-straight road games next weekend when they travel to Northwood and Saginaw Valley. They'll open that weekend up with the Timberwolves on Friday at 2 p.m.
