(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh returned to the win column once again in impressive fashion as it defeated arch rival Malone in four sets on Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers (4-8) took the first two sets easily by scores of 25-14 and 25-17 before the Pioneers (3-12) scored their lone win by a 25-16 margin in the third. Walsh came back and closed out Malone with a 25-21 win in the fourth.

Four Cavaliers reached double figures in kills with Gina Kramer leading the way with a match-high 14. Paola Ferrario followed with 13. Lauren Loucks and Justine Coffman added 12 and 11, respectively. Olivia Zanolli was superb setting up the offense with 46 assists.

Defensively Amanda Adoranti was a dig shy of tying her season-high with 22. Emily Arnold did will in disrupting the Pioneers' attack with three blocks on the night.

The Cavs wasted little time getting momentum on their side as they jumped out of the gate to take a 10-4 lead in the opening set after a kill by Coffman which forced Malone to call a timeout. The Pioneers wouldn't get closer than six points the rest of the way in the opening frame.

Walsh jumped out to 5-1 lead in the second set, but it proved to be much closer. Still, the Cavs didn't trail as they took a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers eventually found some rhythm in the third, but Walsh was able to regain composure in a tightly battled fourth set.

This match kicked off a five-match home stand that will see the Maroon and Gold return to conference action this Friday when the Cavs host Northwood. First serve with the Timberwolves is set for 7 p.m.
