Moody Scores Both Goals In 2-1 Win Over Ashland

Box Score

(ASHLAND, Ohio) – Bailey Moody's two second half goals propelled Walsh to a 2-1 victory over Ashland in GLIAC action at Ferguson Field on a rainy Wednesday evening. The Cavaliers are back to even on the season at 4-4-1 overall and are now 2-4-1 in the conference. The Eagles are also at .500 at 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the GLIAC.

After a scoreless first half, Moody put the Maroon and Gold on the board just under four minutes into the second half from close range as he found the back of the net from around six feet out. The lead didn't last long as Ashland's Tomas Cordeiro equalized three minutes later.

It wasn't until the 73rd minute that Moody added his second of the game and fourth of the season. Simon Miller provided the assist, his second of the season.

From there Walsh was able to control the tempo of the game as the Eagles didn't manage a single shot the rest of the way.

For the 13 shots the Eagles did take in the game, seven of them were on target as Tom Jackson made six saves. It was his first win between the pipes this year. He is now 1-2-1.

Shots were relatively even for both sides as Walsh held a 16-13 advantage in the game. The Cavs put the pressure on in the first half with a 10-3 shot lead in the first, but Ashland goalie Nick Ciraldo saved all six that were on goal in the first half.

Walsh is off Friday, but will return to action on Sunday as it hosts Lake Erie in a matinee. Kickoff with the Storm is slated for 1 p.m. at Milazzo Field.
