Box Score 2 (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh volleyball team completed a successful weekend with a pair of wins over Davis & Elkins 3-0 and Fairmont State 3-1 in the Cavalier Classic Volleyball Tournament Saturday. The Cavaliers improve to 3-1 overall while both the Senators and the Falcons went 1-3 on the weekend to start the season.
Against the Senators, Justine Coffman and Lauren Loucks paced the offense with 15 and 13 kills, respectively. Coffman was especially impressive as she connected on 59.1 percent of her attempts. Olivia Zanolli set up the offense with 36 assists.
On the defensive end, Amanda Adoranti dug up 16 balls. Emily Arnold was strong up front with four blocks.
The momentum remained through to the last match of the day as the Cavs took care of the Falcons in four sets. Walsh took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-19, but Fairmont State rebounded to win the third 25-19. The Falcons threatened again in the fourth, but the Maroon and Gold pulled through with a 27-25 win in the fourth.
Gina Kramer joined Coffman and Loucks leading the offense. Loucks killed 15 attempts while Kramer followed suit with 12. Coffman tallied 11.
Madison Music recorded 15 digs to lead the team. Adoranti and Kaitlin Bronikowski each had 10.
Also participating in the tournament were Bellarmine, Glenville State, and Urbana.
Coffman and Loucks were named to the All-Tournament Team. Bellarmine went undefeated on the weekend and were represented on the All-Tournament Team by Jordyn Kuchenbrod, Allie Muha, and Margaret Horihan.
Also named on the team were Katlyn Dunlap and Mikaela Beck from Urbana, Elizabeth Estes from Davis & Elkins, Bailey Brauher from Glenville State, and Mackenzie Harrison from Fairmont State.
Walsh returns to action next weekend in Nashville as it travels to Trevecca Nazarene to take on the Trojans, Alabama Huntsville, and Missouri St. Louis.
