(MIDLAND, Mich.) – Olivia Peters scored two goals on a pair of assists from Alexis Meffert to lead Walsh to a 2-0 shutout of hosting Northwood on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers end September with a 6-2 record overall and are 2-1 in the GLIAC. The Timberwolves drop even at 4-4 overall and are 1-2 in the conference.

Peters and Meffert first connected in the first half as Walsh scored at 33:55 and took the 1-0 into halftime. Meffert set the play up with a cross into an area just inside the box at around 16 yards.

The duo followed with the second goal shortly into the second half in the 51st minute. The play was similar, but this time the shot came from a slight distance closer at around 13 yards.

Peters now has nine goals on the season and has scored five goals in her last five games. She now leads the GLIAC in goals scored and points with 19 as of this writing. Meffert and teammate Brianna Sanborn are tied with one other player for third in the GLIAC with four assists.

Dani Shambaugh received her first start in goal on the season and recorded the shutout. The Cavs' defense prevented Northwood from taking many shots with only two on goal, both of which were saved.

Overall the Cavs outshot Northwood 9-6.

The Cavs will end their stretch of six-straight games on the road on Sunday as they travel to Saginaw Valley State. Kickoff with the Cardinals is scheduled for noon.
