(AURORA, Ill.) – On the first day of the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover, Walsh split its two matches against GLIAC opponents. The Cavaliers (15-5) opened the day with a 3-1 win over new GLIAC member Davenport before they fell to Northern Michigan in three sets later in the day.

Walsh dropped the first set to the Panthers 25-20 before storming back to take the next three 25-20, 25-23, and 25-19. In the second set, the Cavaliers scored the first five points and led by as much the rest of the way. Except for an 18-17 separation in the third and the first few points of the fourth, the Cavs never trailed the rest of the way.

The Cavaliers had three players in double figures in kills as Lauren Loucks led the way with 14. Gina Kramer was one shy of match-high honors with Loucks with 13. Paola Ferrario added 10. Olivia Zanolli set the attack up with 45 assists.

On the defensive front, Amanda Adoranti hit the 20-dig mark for the eighth time this season with 22. Hallie Schroeder added 11.

Walsh had trouble with the Wildcats in the second match and lost to the No. 2 GLIAC seed by scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-10.

Kramer spiked a team-high seven attacks while Adoranti took defensive honors with nine digs.

Walsh will conclude the crossover with a match against the GLVC's No. 4 seed Rockhurst tomorrow at 2 p.m. EST.
