(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – A late goal by Gary Canam off of a corner kick gave Walsh an important win over Cedarville by a score of 2-1 on Saturday evening. With three games left in the season, the Cavaliers (6-7-1, 5-6) now have 15 points and lead the teams who have yet to clinch one of the final two playoff spots open. The Yellow Jackets (7-8, 6-6) have already clinched a postseason bid.

Walsh struck first early in the contest as Jen Paul Ajala-Alexis found the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season. The 1-0 lead held up through the rest of the half.

Cedarville found the equalizer early in the second as Mason Hecklinger received assists from Brian Wolverton and Nick Marculo on a hard cross with a flick and tap-in.

With just 4:18 left in the game, Hadi Undheim sent a well-placed corner kick just five yards in front of the net were Canam was able to get a touch for his fourth of the season.

Overall Walsh was outshot 15-8 by the Yellow Jackets, but Jon-Paul Della Pia made season-high seven saves on the night.

In order to clinch a playoff spot, Walsh needs at least one more point or have Lake Erie lose one game. Ohio Dominican sits behind the Cavs in eighth with 12 points. Lake Erie, the only other team not eliminated from the playoff hunt, will need to win out as the Storm currently has nine points.

Walsh will close the regular season out at home with games against Davis & Elkins, Alderson Broaddus, and Malone. The Senators will visit Milazzo Field first this Thursday with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.
