Cavs Split Weekend After Loss to No. 7 Drury

(NASHVILLE) – Nationally ranked No. 7 Drury proved to be too much for Walsh as the Maroon and Gold split its opening weekend with an 85-55 defeat in the Pops Duncan Tournament. The Cavaliers are now 1-1 while the Panthers improved to 2-0.

The Cavs led in the early seconds after baskets by Alex Hochstedler and Dominique Foley put them up 5-2, but Drury answered with the next eight points and never trailed the rest of the way.

Shelby Henkel paced the Cavaliers in one of her best games of her career with 13 points. She was 6-of-7 from the field and added also led the team in rebounds with six. Emily Westphal was the other lone Cavalier in double-figures with 10. She was 5-of-8 from the field and added three boards.

Overall Walsh shot 40 percent, 22-of-55, from the field, but couldn't overcome the hot shooting of the Panthers who made 49.1 percent with 28-of-57.

Heather Harman led a trio of Panthers in double-figures with 19 points.

The Cavaliers will return to action for their home opener this Wednesday when they take on Fairmont State. Tip-off with the Falcons is set for 6 p.m.
