(EDINBORO, Pa.) – Walsh started off the season with a pair of impressive wins over Fairmont State and Lock Haven on the first day of Rebich Investment Invitational hosted by Edinboro. The Cavaliers began their season in thrilling fashion by defeating the Falcons in five sets by scores of 23-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-8. They followed with a three-set shutout of Lock Haven in the nightcap by scores of 26-24, 25-21, 25-19.

The win against the Falcons came in comeback fashion after losing the first two sets.

Paola Ferrario led the Cavs attack with 16 kills. Justine Coffman and Lauren Loucks also recorded double-digit kills. Amanda Adoranti let the defense charge with 23 digs and also recorded three service aces.

Against the Bald Eagles, Walsh trailed 24-20 in the opening set before it reeled off the next six points for the win. A kill by Ferrario sparked the rally and she added another spike after an error on Lock Haven to bring the Cavs within one. Adoranti aced the next serve to tie the set before Coffman went up for a pair of blocks, one with Gina Kramer, to complete the comeback bid.

Walsh carried the momentum into the rest of the match and pulled away late in both the second and third sets.

Loucks led the attack with 13 kills. Both Kramer and Ferrario were a kill shy of double-digits. Olivia Zanolli set up the offense with 30 assists. Adoranti pulled up 14 digs. Coffman ended up with four blocks, none more important than her two at the end of the first set. Addison Wisehart was also a force up front with six blocks against the Eagles.

The Cavs are back in action tomorrow against Bellarmine at 10 a.m. The tournament will conclude with the Cavaliers taking on West Virginia Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
