Cavaliers Shutout Senators In G-MAC Opener

Box Score

(ELKINS, W.Va.) – The shutout streak continued as Walsh defeated Davis & Elkins 1-0 in G-MAC play on Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (4-0) were playing in their conference opener after their game against Malone was washed out by thunderstorms, while the Senators (1-2-1, 0-1-1) were playing in their second.

The lone goal came late in the game as Corynne Swift received a pass from Hannah Bowman and found the back of the net. It was her third goal of the season.

The Walsh offense was once again dominant as it outshot the Senators 19-8 in the game. Of those eight shots, only two were on goal in which Mickey McClanahan was perfect on the evening with two saves.

The Maroon and Gold had seven shots on goal on the night with Olivia Peters and Swift each taking two. Corner kicks also favored Walsh twice as much by an 8-4 count.

Walsh has now shutout 12 of its last 22 opponents dating back to last season. The Cavs will try to make that 13 of 23 when they head back to the Mountain State to take on Alderson Broaddus on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
