Walsh Too Much For Trevecca In 3-1 Win

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Gary Canam scored two goals off of corner kicks to lead Walsh to a 3-1 win in its first game ever against Trevecca Nazarene University on Thursday evening. The Cavaliers climbed over .500 and are now 4-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the G-MAC. The Trojans dropped to 2-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.

The first goal came just 13:11 into the contest when Hadi Undheim took a corner from the left side. The kick took to the far end of the box where Canam was able to head it perfectly into the back of the net.

The Trojans' Victor Tsado was able to tie the game eight minutes later, but Walsh was able to regain the lead when Myles Cornwall scored his third goal in two games on a penalty kick after he was fouled in the box at the 36:40 mark.

Canam added an insurance goal on a corner kick by Steven Taylor in the 86th minute.

Tom Jackson recorded the win in goal after he made a pair of saves on nine shots faced. Overall Walsh outshot the Trojans 18-9 in the contest.

Walsh will look to close out the home stand with another win and remain unbeaten at home this season as the Cavs host Kentucky Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
