Cavs Downed By Central Conn. State

Box Score

(NEW BRITAIN, Conn.) – Walsh scored on the opening drive, but it couldn't stop Division I Central Connecticut State after that as the hosts went on to win 57-6. The Cavaliers are now 0-4 overall while the Blue Devils improved to 1-3.

The Cavaliers opened the game by forcing the Blue Devils to punt and answered with a six-play, 72-yard drive. The score was set up by a 65-yard run by Kalvin Gordon that set up Walsh inside the red zone, but the Cavs couldn't get closer as Kasey Tingler kicked a 32-yard field goal through the uprights.

Walsh was able to attempt another field goal just before the half. This time it was from 30 yards out, but Tingler still kicked true to make the score 35-6.

Gordon went over 100 yards on the afternoon on 11 carries for a 9.2 average. Defensively Dylan Garver led the team with 13 tackles.

The Cavaliers will return home to Tom Benson Stadium when they host Findlay in the G-MAC opener next week.
