Box Score (PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Walsh's three-game win streak came to an end at Lake Erie by a score of 3-2 at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium on Thursday. The Cavaliers remain above .500 with a record of 5-4-1 overall and 4-3 in the conference, while the Storm improved to 3-6 and 2-5 in the same categories.
All goals were scored in an explosive second half. Tom Jackson made four saves in the opening frame to keep the game scoreless, but the Storm found the back of the net just over three minutes into the second half on a shot by Andrew Bucur. Three minutes later, Miguel Espinoza made the score 2-0.
Brandon Denton finally got the Cavaliers on the board with a goal in the 63rd minute from the left side of the box. Lake Erie answered with a volley over Jackson's head in the 75th minute. Dwight Van Dyke put Walsh back in striking distance with a goal in the 78th minute, but time ran out on the Cavs despite a slurry of shots in the final minutes.
Walsh outshot the Storm 18-14 with 11 coming in the second half.
The Cavs will continue their road travels with two games next week at Findlay and Ohio Dominican. The Oilers will be first up on the docket with a Thursday kickoff at 1 p.m.
