(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – In a battle between the two top teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's East Division, Walsh fell to Lake Erie 3-1 in the Cecchini Center on Friday. The Cavaliers (12-3, 6-1 G-MAC) suffered their first conference loss and had a six-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Storm (12-4, 6-1, G-MAC).

Lake Erie won by scores of 25-22, 24-26, 25-15, and 25-16.

The first two sets could have gone either way. In the opening game, neither team gained a lead of more than three points. That advantage only game late in the set when the Storm went up 23-20 and ultimately 25-22.

Walsh saw its biggest lead of the night in the second set when it went up 21-14 after a kill by Gina Kramer. Lake Erie ended up rallying late and tied the match at 23-23, but the Cavs were able to even the match on a kill by Paola Ferrario.

The Cavs remained close with the Storm in the early goings of the third, but Lake Erie eventually took control of the set and carried it through the rest of the match for the win.

Lauren Loucks led the Cavaliers with 14 kills and was backed up by Ferrario who added 13 with an attack percentage of .324. Defending G-MAC Player of the Week Olivia Zanolli set up the offense with 41 assists and added eight digs on the defensive end. Amanda Adoranti led the team in digs once again with 18.

The Cavaliers will attempt to rebound as they host Ursuline tomorrow at 5 p.m.
