Women's Tennis To Play For G-MAC Championship After Cedarville Shutout

(CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh women's tennis team continues to roll as it defeated Cedarville 9-0 at the North Canton Racquet Club on Saturday. It was the sixth-straight victory for the Cavaliers (10-7, 6-0) who will now play for a G-MAC championship when they take on Hillsdale next Saturday.

The Cavs jumped out to an early with the sweep of doubles actions in quick fashion with two wins by an 8-1 margin. Mercedes Fernandez and Clara Drasch were responsible for one of them at first doubles, while Maria Kacalova and Katarina Razum equaled that score at No. 2 doubles.

Fernandez also made quick work of her singles match as she shut out Rosie Thompson with a pair of 6-0 sets. Sofia Khairutdinova also shut out her opponent in both sets in No. 5 singles. Drasch and Razum were both close to doing the same. Drasch won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while Razum won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Walsh will have one more match before the important date with Hillsdale. That will be against Case Western Reserve on Thursday at 4 p.m.
