Cavs Claw Back To Draw With Cedarville

Box Score

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – One of Walsh's longest rivalries experienced its 50th edition and saw the Cavaliers climb back from a deficit to draw with Cedarville 2-2. The Yellow Jackets (2-1-1, 1-0-1) struck first with two goals in the first 20 minutes, only to see the Maroon and Gold (2-1-1, 0-1-1) inch back with scores in each half.

Pedro Alvares put the visitors up in the 10th minute on a strike from the just outside the right corner of the box. That was followed by Cole Butaud's header off a corner kick from Conner Hughes exactly 10 minutes later.

Momentum eventually shifted in favor of the Cavaliers as Myles Cornwall put the hosts on the scoreboard at 36:55 on an assist from Wesley Burton. It was his fifth goal of the season for the reigning G-MAC Player of the Week. Cornwall has now scored in all four games this year.

He wasn't finished as he found fellow forward Dwight Van Dyke early in the second half for the equalizer. It was Van Dyke's fourth goal and Cornwall's third assist.

Walsh and Cedarville have now met 50 times with the Cavaliers leading the all-time series 24-20-6. The first meeting between the two took place back in 1970.

The Cavaliers now gear up for the first of two consecutive meetings with Ohio Dominican. Walsh hosts the Panthers for the first showdown this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
