(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Cavaliers and Pioneers met for the 81st time this afternoon (Jan. 12) when the Walsh University women's basketball team defeated the Malone Pioneers, 76-56. A dominant defensive second quarter for the Cavaliers propeled them to the victory as they held the Pioneers to only four second-quarter points, all of which came from the free-throw line. 

The Cavs showed a balanced attack offensively with ten different players scoring throughout the game. Freshmen Lexie Scarton and Quionche Carter, and junior Hannah Blake each contributed 13 points to lead Walsh's scoring. Blake's 13 point marker was a career high. Mayci Sales rounded out Walsh's double-digit scorers with 10 points. Jill Blacksten and Jamie Halloran controlled the boards with six rebounds each, and Halloran also dished out three assists. 

Robin Campbell led Malone with 20 points on the day, she was the only Pioneer to reach double figures. 

The Cavs hit the road next week as they face Ursuline on Thursday (Jan. 17) and Lake Erie on Saturday (Jan. 19).
