Balanced Scoring Leads Cavs to 84-61 Victory Over Cedarville

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Walsh University women's basketball team (10-4, 6-2) blasted Cedarville 84-61 Saturday afternoon to give the Yellow Jackets (10-3, 6-1) their first conference loss of the season. 

A balanced offensive attack landed five players in double figures. Jamie Halloran led the charge draining four three's in route to 17 points on the day. Mayci Sales added 12 points, dished out three assists, and had three blocks to aid in the Cavalier victory. Quionche Carter and Jill Blacksten contributed 10 points a piece, while Tyler Newkirk rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10. Shelby Henkel led the Cavaliers on the glass with eight rebounds. 

Walsh's defense was tenacious as they limited the Yellow Jackets to only 4 of 20 shooting from behind the arc. Cedarville entered the contest as the second best 3-point shooting team in the country at 42.5%. The Cavs also outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 45-31 to help secure the win. 

Baylee Bennett led the Cedarville offense with 14 points. Regina Hochstetler added 12 on the day. 

Next up on the Cavs schedule is cross-town rival Malone. The Cavs will battle the Pioneers at home on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.
