Women's Soccer Clinches G-MAC Playoff Spot

COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the fourth straight season, the Walsh Cavaliers women's soccer program is playoff bound as they clinched a Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament berth on Thursday (Oct. 24) night in a 1-0 win over the Ohio Dominican Panthers. 

The Cavaliers improved to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the G-MAC as they secured their third straight G-MAC playoff spot. 

Walsh struck first in the 30th minute on a free kick opportunity. After the Cavaliers took a free kick, the Panthers defense allowed the ball to go into the goal for an own goal. The Panthers took five shots to Walsh's four with both teams having two shots on target in the first half. 

Both teams added two shots on target in the second half but the game remained 1-0 in favor of the Cavaliers. 

Ohio Dominican outshot the Cavaliers 12-8 in the contest with each team having four shots on goal. 

Mickey McClanahan finished her eighth shutout of the year with four saves in goal. 

Walsh closes the road slate on Saturday (Oct. 26) at Cedarville with a 5:00 PM kickoff against the Yellow Jackets.
