Box Score HILLSDALE, Michigan - The Walsh Cavaliers volleyball team continued the 2019 Great Midwest Volleyball Tournament with a semifinal matchup with the Tiffin Dragons on Friday (Nov. 22) at Potter Arena in Hillsdale.
The Cavaliers were defeated 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 12-25, 20-25) by the Dragons, ending their season in the Semifinals.
Walsh erased an early 3-0 deficit as Justine Coffman and Olivia Kearns had kills, giving Walsh a 7-6 lead. After six ties, Tiffin gained the lead 15-14 and won the first set 25-19. Set number two saw the Cavaliers trail early but they bounced back as Coffman tied the set at six. After Walsh trailed 9-8, Amber King and Lauren Loucks had back-to-back kills as Walsh took back the 10-9 lead. Walsh opened a six point lead and won the second set 25-23. The Dragons reversed course in the third and fourth sets as they cleared early deficits and advanced to the final with wins in the last two sets.
Loucks finished with a team-high 14 kills in her final collegiate match. Hallie Schroeder went for a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Kearns also had a double-double with 35 assists and 14 digs. Samantha Wentz led the Cavaliers with 16 digs while Sydnee Marks and Natalie Brutscher had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
Walsh ended the season 18-10 with the program's third straight G-MAC semifinal appearance.
