Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season with 3-0 Shutout

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - With the Great Midwest Women's Soccer Tournament looming this weekend, the Walsh Cavaliers women's soccer team closed out the regular season with some momentum. 

The Cavaliers sealed the regular season finale with a 3-0 shutout of the Malone Pioneers on Tuesday (Nov. 5) night at Milazzo Field. 

Olivia Peters got the scoring started early as she scored on an assist from Alexis Meffert just three minutes into the game. Walsh took a 1-0 lead into halftime as well as a 7-2 shot advantage. 

In the second half, the game remained a one-score game through the 83rd minute. Peters added her second goal of the evening in the 84th minute, giving the senior nine goals for the season. 

Maggie Kortis scored her first goal of the season in the 88th minute, sealing the 3-0 win for the Cavaliers. 

Walsh outshot Malone 7-5 in the second half and finished the contest with a 14-7 shot differential. 

With the third straight win, Walsh improved to 13-4 overall and earned the second seed with a 10-2 conference mark. 

Mickey McClanahan made four saves in her league-leading tenth shutout of the year. 

Walsh, as the number two seed, will host the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Saturday (Nov. 9) at 12 PM in a Great Midwest Quarterfinal matchup.
