Men's Soccer Picks Up Key Three Points vs. ODU

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Following a draw in the G-MAC opener at Malone, the Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team gained three points on Saturday (Sept. 21) night at Len Milazzo Field. 

The Cavaliers took home a 3-1 victory in the second game of the G-MAC slate and improved the record to 5-0-1 through the first six contests. 

Dwight Van Dyke opened the scoring in the second minute when he scored off of an assist by Myles Cornwall. Despite being outshot 7-4 in the first half, Walsh led 1-0 at the intermission. 

Peyton Barnes found the back of the net in the 48th minute as Walsh led 2-0 over the Panthers. Ohio Dominican cut the lead in half in the 65th minute on a goal. 

In the 84th minute, Cornwall beat the goalie and added an insurance goal for Walsh as he buried a shot in the right corner of the net. Walsh was victorious 3-1 at home. 

Walsh took 11 shots in the second half and finished with a 15-12 shot advantage. 12 of Walsh's shots were on goal in the game.

Ethan Burawa faced six shots on goal with five saves made as he earned his fourth win of the year. 

Walsh will take a trip to West Virginia next week for games with Alderson Broaddus and Ohio Valley.
