Another Golden Goal for the Cavaliers in New York

AMHERST, N.Y. - For the second straight game, the Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team rallied in the last few minutes and tallied a game-winning goal in overtime. Walsh defeated the Daemen Wildcats 2-1 in the final minutes of the first overtime. 

Both teams did not score in the first half, despite Walsh outshooting Daemen 7-3 and the three Wildcats shots were on goal. 

Daemen struck first in the 51st minute with a goal off of a penalty kick. Walsh broke through and tied the contest in the 87th minute on a goal from Dwight Van Dyke that was assisted by Peyton Barnes

The Cavaliers had offensive pressure for the overtime period as they outshot the Wildcats 6-1. With only 20 seconds remaining in the period, Nathan Kett scored the game-winner, assisted by Gary Canam

In both games this week, Walsh has tied the contest in the final seven minutes of regulation and netted the game-winner in extra time. 

Overall, Walsh outshot Daemen 22-14 as the Cavaliers took more shots in the first half and overtime. 

Ethan Burawa earned the win in goal as he made seven saves and allowed one goal. 

Walsh will wrap up the season-opening road swing with a game at Ashland on Wednesday (Sept. 11), starting at 7:00 PM.
