Box Score (FINDLAY, Ohio)-The Walsh University Women's Basketball team has continued their winning streak to 14 in a row. The number fourteen ranked Cavaliers took down the Oilers at Niekamp Arena 96 to 79 as five players would end in double figures.
Sophomore standout Quionche Carter would lead the charge for the Maroon and Gold with 25 points. Carter would also add 7 rebounds, 3 assists and an impressive 5 steals. Four other Cavaliers would end the day in double digits. Tyler Newkirk would rack up 17 points and 9 assists, while Jamie Halloran and Alyssa Dean each tallied 11 points. Halloran was two of four from behind the arc and contributed 3 assists and 2 steals. Mayci Sales threw up 10 points on the board and led the team in rebounds with 10. Kimmie Borck could not miss from behind the paint as she went three for three to give her 9 points for the Maroon and Gold.
The consistent Cavalier offense would outscore the Oilers every quarter to secure the road win. Heading into the second quarter up 1, a quick jumpshot by Sales and a swift steal by Carter followed by a fast break layup would put the Cavs up. With momentum rolling, the Cavs would head into the locker room with a 5 point lead. Newkirk lead the Cavs offensively in the third quarter putting up 11 of her 17 points, 6 of which were three pointers. Great shooting from Holloran and Dean in the fourth combined with tremendous defense, the Maroon and Gold were able to lock in their fourteenth consecutive win and improve their overall record to 12-0 in the GMAC.
The Cavaliers host the Battlers from Alderson Broaddus at Alumni Arena on Thursday night at 5:30 pm.
