Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's basketball improved to 5-1 on the year and in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Monday (Jan. 25) night with an 84-58 win over the Tiffin Dragons at Alumni Arena.

The Short Story: Tiffin came out of the gate with a pair of three pointers for a 6-2 lead in the first two and a half minutes. Walsh answered with two threes on a 8-0 run as the Cavaliers regained the lead, 10-6. Over the course of the first half, Walsh hit seven three pointers as they took a 43-34 lead into halftime while shooting 52.9% overall. The lead grew to 21 points in the second half with the help of a 14-0 run, spanning 4:32 of game time. Darryl Straughter, Caleb Canter and Christian Montague all combined for the 14 points with Straughter and Montague tallying five each. The Cavaliers led by as many as 27 in the second half for the team's third straight win.
OPENING TIP
- Darryl Straughter started the game with 15 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 21 points. The sharp-shooting senior was eight-of-16 from the floor and made five three pointers. He also grabbed five rebounds and had a pair of assists and steals each.
- Caleb Canter tied a season and career-high with 14 points on seven-of-13 shooting along with six rebounds.
- Christian Montague ended his second game of the year with 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Montague made five field goals (two threes) and had a pair of free throws.
- Christian Simmons tallied his third double-digit scoring game of the season with 12 points. He made four of his five shot attempts with three free throws made.
- Garrison Keeslar was the leading rebounder with nine boards.

- Walsh shot 50% (33-66) for the game after starting the contest with a 52.9% (18-34) shooting percentage. Tiffin's field goal % was 32.8% (21-64), as the Dragons went cold in the second half with only making 27.0% (10-37) of their shots.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Tiffin finished with 11 three pointers to Walsh's ten treys. The teams had combined for 15 three pointers in the opening 20 minutes.
- For the second straight game, Walsh totaled 45 rebounds with ten offensive boards. Keeslar had a team-high nine boards while Canter and Milan Square each had six of their own.
- Walsh turned 11 turnovers into 16 points in the game and created 38 points in the paint.
- Tiffin's leading scorer was Tanner Johnson, who hit five three pointers for a total of 17 points.
