Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers defeated the Trevecca Trojans in a Thursday night G-MAC match-up in Alumni Arena. A second-half comeback, led by Christian Montague, helped secure the 67-59 victory.
Montague tabbed a career-high 23 points, including five three-pointers. Senior guard Darryl Straughter also contributed 16 points with nine points from behind the arc, to aid in the second-half comeback. Caleb Canter led all rebounders with 12 on the night, to match the Trojans on the glass as both teams secured 35 rebounds.
Trevecca's Adam Webb tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Trojans.
A Walsh full-court press forced Trevecca to 20 turnovers to ignite the Cavalier comeback. Senior forward Mark Kostelac tied the game at 51 with 6:27 remaining in the second half. A pair of Kostelac free throws put the Cavaliers on top 53-51 with 5:30 left in regulation. The Cavaliers maintained the lead to secure the victory.
The Cavaliers shot 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the free throw line as the Trojans committed 22 personal fouls.
The Cavaliers will face the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday, January 30 back in Alumni Arena at 4:00 p.m. ET.
