Box Score CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers football team engaged in a tough battle with the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Saturday (Oct. 16) afternoon at Bob Commings Field. The Cavaliers led 13-9 in the fourth quarter but fell 23-13, as they fell to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

BIG MOMENTS RECAP
- Walsh opened the game with the ball on the opening drive. Tom Vatter connected with Bernard Bates on a 57-yard pass play on the third play from scrimmage and Mason Brown capped the drive with a 35-yard field goal. Walsh led 3-0 with 12:33 left in the opening quarter.
- Kentucky Wesleyan gained a 6-3 lead with 2:17 left in the first quarter on a 25-yard passing touchdown from Christian Arrambide to Chauncey Greer. The extra point was blocked by Sal Sidebotham, keeping it a three-point game as the first quarter came to a close.
- Brown knotted the score at six with less than a minute in the first half on a 32-yard field goal.
- The Panthers' opening drive in the seconde half resulted in points on a 24-yard field goal as the lead was 9-6 with 9:10 to go in the third.
- Walsh took the 13-9 lead on a 48-yard screen pass from Vatter to Thomas Wilks with 13:12 left in the game.
- KWC regained the 16-13 lead two minutes later with a two-yard touchdown run by Deonco Wilkerson.
- A second rushing touchdown of 14-yards with three minutes left put the Panthers up 23-13.

- Walsh totaled 16 first downs with 342 yards of total offense. The passing attack totaled 274 yards while the rushing game accounted for 68 yards.
- Vatter completed 20 of 46 passes with 274 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
- Thomas Wilks totaled 38 yards rushing on 15 carries.
- Jaden Gresham caught five passes for 79 yards while Delonte Hall had five catches for 31 yards.
- Marcus Shellenbarger and Sal Sidebotham each had nine tackles and half a sack. Shellenbarger tallied 2.5 tackles for loss in the game.
- Johnny Agresta made a sack and five tackles on defense as well.
UP NEXT
- Walsh will travel to Ohio Dominican next Saturday (October 23) for another matchup with a Panthers team. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM kickoff at Panther Stadium.
