PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team battled the top seed Lake Erie College Storm in the Great Midwest Men's Soccer Championship Semifinal on Thursday (Nov. 11) at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. On a wet and soggy night, the Storm held on for a 5-2 win over the Cavaliers

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Lake Erie opened the game in the sixth minute with a goal but Harry Gardner tied the game less than two minutes later. 
• The Storm added goals in the 29th and 44th minutes to hold a 3-1 lead at halftime.
• A quick start to the second half saw the Storm add two more goals for a 5-1 lead. 
• Gardner closed the scoring in the 67th minute with a shot, assisted by Canaan Johnson. 

FOR THE CAVALIERS:

• Walsh finished with six shots with all being on goal in the contest.
• Gardner took three shots with two goals while Tanaka Goebere, Johnson and Gabe Altawil each took one shot.
• Ethan Burawa faced 18 shots with 13 shots on target and eight saves. 

FOR THE STORM:

• Lake Erie totaled 18 shots overall and had 13 on goal in the rain.
• Teddy Baker scored two goals and had one assist with three shots.
• Conner Mautino took a game-high five shots, with one goal and one assist.
• Alex Ovalle and Tomas Fernandez each scored a goal while Fernandez assisted on two goals.
