CANTON, Ohio- The Walsh University Women's Basketball team traveled down Rt. 43 to take on cross town rival Malone University. The Cavaliers would fall just short to the Pioneers as Malone won 84-71.

SHORT STORY: The Pioneers maintained a lead throughout the entire match up shooting 50 percent from behind the arc and 56.8 percent from the field. Junior guard Sha Carter led the Cavaliers with 23 total points as she shot 4 for 6 from the three point line. Carter also led the Cavs in rebounds at 9. Senior forward Mayci Sales also scored in double digits with 15. She added 8 boards and 4 assists. A fourth quarter push from the maroon and gold by dropping 3 consecutive three point buckets and a layup would put them on a 11-2 run. However, their efforts would fall short as the Pioneers continued to answer on the other end of the court. 

For the Pioneers, all 5 starters contributed double digit points. Alexis Hutchison led the charge with 20 points, shooting 70 percent from the field. Senior guard Holly Groff led the Pioneers in assists with 7, while also adding 17 points. 

The Cavaliers are back at home Thursday night as they take on the Storm from Lake Erie at 5:30 PM.
