NORTH CANTON, Ohio-  The Walsh University Men's basketball team took on the Panthers from Ohio Dominican Thursday night (Feb. 25) in Alumni Arena. The Cavaliers were able to secure the win at home by beating the Panthers 86-75.

SHORT STORY: An explosive offensive performance for the Cavaliers would help them come out on top Thursday night. Lighting up the floor from behind the arc, the Cavaliers offense had plenty of momentum to start the game, connecting on the first three 3 point attempts. Darryl Straughter would lead the Cavaliers heading into halftime, as the Cavs were up 45-39. Straughter racked up 17 points at the half, shooting 5 of 7 from the 3 point line. Christian Montague would add 8 points and Garrison Keeslar would contribute 6 points. The Cavs shot 65.4 percent from the field at the half.

The Cavaliers were able to maintain their lead throughout the entire second half of the game. Darryl Straughter would end the game with 27 total points, 18 of which were all made on shots from deep. Montague would add 16 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists for the Cavaliers. Some late three pointers from Milan Square added serious energy in Alumni Arena. Square would end the day with 13 total points, 3 rebounds and 1 block. Christian Simmons tallied 11 points for the Cavs and went 2-2 on his 3 point attempts. The maroon and gold continued their offensive efforts til the final buzzer. Shooting 64.6 perent from the field and 56.5 percent from outside the three point line.

Guards Sean Marks and Alex West each added 22 points for the Panthers.

The Cavaliers will host the Storm from Lake Erie on Saturday in Alumni Arena at 3:30 PM.
