NORTH CANTON, Ohio - After six straight road games, the Walsh University women's basketball team battled G-MAC opponent Ohio Dominican Panthers at Alumni Arena on Thursday (Feb. 25) night. The Cavaliers jumped into the second spot in the G-MAC Point Rating System with the win over the Panthers tonight, improving to 15-5 overall.

SHORT STORY: In a game where the Cavs found themself down early and by as many as 19 points, Walsh was able to chip away and to overcome a 19-point deficit to defeat the Panthers. After trailing by 12 at the end of the third quarter, Walsh outscored ODU 28-8 to come back. Lexie Scarton made a three-point play with 4:29 to go that gave Walsh the lead for the first time. The Cavaliers were led by senior Mayci Sales, who finished with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. Sha Carter and Scarton also helped the Cavs on the floor as Carter finished with 18 points and eight rebounds while Scarton finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Rebounding as a team changed the outcome of the game. At the end of the 1st half, Ohio Dominican led 18-17 in total rebounds. Then when the final buzzer sounded, the Cavaliers had 45 rebounds while Ohio Dominican finished with 28. Walsh outrebounded Ohio Dominican 28-10 with 13 offensive boards in the second half.
The Maroon and Gold return to the court Saturday (Feb. 27) for their Senior Day ceremony and last game of the regular season. They will be facing the Storm from Lake Erie College at 1:00 PM.
