Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team stepped away from conference play on Wednesday (March 17) night as they hosted the Case Western Reserve Spartans at Larry Staudt Field.
The Cavaliers and the Spartans ended in a 2-2 draw despite a late flurry of goals in the final 3 minutes of regulation.
The Spartans took the 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute and held that lead until the 64th minute when Case Western added another goal to make it 2-0. Canaan Johnson scored in the 88th minute on an assist from Harry Gardner as Walsh pulled within one. Just 80 seconds later, Patrick O'Halloran delivered the equalizer off a Peyton Barnes assist as the game was tied 2-2 with 1:35 left.
Both teams had three shots in the two overtimes periods (two on goal) but neither team could find the golden goal as the contest ended in a draw after 110 minutes.
The Spartans outshot the Cavaliers 14-8 and had six shots on goal to Walsh's four. Walsh took ten corner kicks in the game while Case had four.
Walsh resumes conference play on Saturday (March 20) as they host crosstown rival Malone at 7:30 PM on Larry Staudt Field.
