NORTH CANTON, OHIO - The Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team defeated their rival, the Malone Pioneers on Saturday (March 20) night. The Cavs won 3-1 at Larry Staudt Field in a G-MAC matchup.
The Cavs took a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game when Dominic O'Connor scored off a free kick and deflection from Hadi Undheim and Daniel Price. Walsh held the lead until Malone was able to answer with 22 minutes left in the 1st half. At the half, the game was tied at one goal each. The Cavs scored again five minutes into the 2nd half from an unassisted goal by Jake Cunningham. Each team had several attempts to score in the 2nd half. Walsh was able to put Malone away as Patrick O'Halloran scored in the 84th minute and put Walsh ahead 3-1.
Walsh outshot Malone 14-9 and each team had five shots on target. Walsh goalkeeper Ethan Burawa saved four of the five shots on target.
Walsh stays home to take on the Storm from Lake Erie College on Thursday (March 25) at 7:30 PM on Larry Staudt Field.
