NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team used a dash of theatrics on Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon as they continued to run through the G-MAC schedule. The Cavaliers scored a late goal to lift the Maroon and Gold 1-0 over the Ashland Eagles at Larry Staudt Field. The Cavaliers have started the season 5-0-1 for the second time in three seasons. 

• Score: Walsh 1, Ashland 0
• Records: Walsh 5-0-1 (2-0), Ashland 0-3-2 (0-1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The first half was a scoreless battle as Ashland led the shot battle 10-5 in the opening 45 minutes. Of the 15 shots total, Ashland had three shots on target while Walsh had one in the first half.
• In the second half, Ashland continued to hold the shot advantage 6-3. The Eagles had three shots on target to Walsh's two. 
• Manny Perez played a ball from Eirik Bomann in the box in the 85th minute as Perez scored the first and only goal of the game. 

FOR THE CAVALIERS:

• Walsh finished with eight shots with four on goal in the contest.
• Seven different players took shots with Gabriel Altawil taking two shots.
• Perez tallied the only goal and Bomann had the assist.
• Ethan Burawa faced 16 shots with six on target as he saved all six. 

FOR THE EAGLES:

• Ashland totaled 16 shots overall and had six on goal throughout the afternoon.
• Kieran Paterson took five shots, leading the Eagles. 
• Justin Libertowski had three shots overall and two on target. 
• Brett Robinson made three saves in goal with one goal allowed.

UP NEXT:

• The Cavs will head South for a G-MAC matchup with Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday (Sept. 23) at 6:00 PM Eastern.
