Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

SOCCER SWEEPS MALONE; BOTH SECURE SPOTS IN POSTSEASON

CANTON, OHIO- The Walsh University Men's & Women's soccer teams traveled down Route 43 to take on the Pioneers for the last regular season game of the year. The maroon and gold were victorious on both sides to finish the regular season with wins and to help lock both teams into post season play. The Men are now seeded in the 4th spot and will host the G-MAC quarterfinal game on Saturday night. The Cavs will take on the number 5 seeded, Yellow Jackets from Cedarville at 6:00pm.  The Women, seeded number 6, will travel to Midland to take on Northwood University on Saturday at noon.

FOR THE CAVALIER WOMEN: 
  • The Women battled the Pioneers in the first game of the night at Pioneer Park.
  • The Pioneers were quick to jump on the scoreboard, but the Cavs didn't hesitate to respond.
  • Freshman, Katie Corrigan, connected on three goals over the course of the rest of the game. Corrigan has a total of 10 goals on the season for the Cavs.
  • The standout freshman's first goal was assisted by Krista Prasek at the 48 minute mark of the game to put the Cavs tied with the Pioneers, 1-1.
  • Corrigan once again connected on a goal assisted by Faith Estes, to put the maroon and gold up 2-1. 
  • Corrigan and Estes would later partner up on the final goal by the Cavs at the 76 minute mark of the game. The Cavs went up 3-1 as the clock quickly timed out. 
  • Goalie, Romina Parraguez, tabbed 6 total saves on the night for the Cavs in their end of season win.
FOR THE CAVALIER MEN:
  • The Cavalier Men went back and forth with Pioneers offensively, in a shootout that led to a scoreless game up until the last 2 minutes of play.
  • The Cavs took 19 shots on goal in their attempt to get a lead on the Pioneers. 
  • Jose Rabadan Villanueva scored the lone goal in the game with an assist from Leandro Louro.
  • Connecting with the back of the net with less than 2 minutes to play in the game, Villanueva's goal put the Cavs on the board, 1-0.
  • The clock kept ticking, and the Cavs officially locked in win number 10 on the season and secured their spot as host's for the G-MAC quarterfinals. 
  • Goalie, Charlie Walker grabbed 2 saves on the night.
