WOMEN'S SOCCER HEADED TO G-MAC SEMI-FINALS AFTER WIN UP NORTH

MIDLAND, MICHIGAN- The Walsh University Women's Soccer team is coming back to North Canton with another win on the season after they defeated the Timberwolves from Northwood in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference quarterfinals. The Cavs defeated the number three seeded Timberwolves, 3-2, during the Saturday afternoon match-up.

LOCATION: Midland, Michigan
SCORE: Walsh 3, Northwood 2

FOR THE CAVALIERS:
  • The Cavs went the entire first half scoreless against the Timberwolves in the open round of tournament play. It wasn't until Ally Stein took advantage of a penalty kick to put the Cavs on the board during the 67th minute of the game.
  • Following Stein's goal, freshman Katie Corrigan, once again, put on a dominant offensive performance for the maroon and gold.
  • Corrigan connected on an assisted goal by teammate Faith Estes at 74 minutes to put the Cavs up by 1 over their conference competitor.
  • The Timberwolves answered immediately with a goal on their end, but that didn't stop the Cavs.
  • 30 seconds later, Katie Corrigan launched one to the back of the net again to put the Cavaliers up 3-2 with the clock ticking away. Corrigan's second goal on the day was assisted by Megan Anderson.
  • This is Corrigans 10th goal of the year.
  • Romina Parraguez totaled 5 saves on the day.
  • The win moves the Cavs into the G-MAC semi-finals game on November 3rd against Ashland. The Cavs and Eagles will play at 4:30.
