NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers women's tennis team split the weekend series on Friday (Feb. 11) and Saturday (Feb. 12) at the North Canton Racquet Club, as Walsh hosted Northwood and Edinboro on back-to-back days.
On Friday against Northwood, Walsh rallied from a 3-1 deficit after the doubles matches and the first three singles bouts. Nicole Beidacki and Chiara Wolff won in fourth and sixth singles, respectively to tie the match at three. The deciding match at fifth singles went three sets with Northwood notching the match-clinching point. Northwood won the match 4-3 in a close one
Saturday's match saw Walsh go a perfect 9-0 on the day with a clean sweep across the board, a 7-0 win over the Fighting Scots.
Risako Umekuni went 4-0 on the weekend with Shantala Uzcategui, Nicole Beidacki and Carla Padberg all going 3-1 for the weekend. Chiara Wolff won both singles bouts for the Cavaliers.
