NORTH CANTON, OH: The Great Midwest Volleyball Tournament kicked off in the Cecchini Center last night as the #3 seed Cavs, hosted the #6 seed Dragons from Tiffin. The Maroon and Gold came out with a vengeance, slaying the Dragons in a dominant first set. The Dragons did not give up as they battled to win the 2nd set. The match continued to go back and fourth as each team won two sets, forcing a fifth. In a packed, loud gym, the fifth set was one for the books as each team traded points. Normally playing to 15, the battle ended in a Walsh defeat, 21-19.
Walsh finishes their historic season with many accomplishments and a 25-6 record.
The conference tournament will finish this weekend in Hillsdale, Michigan. Tiffin will face Ohio Dominican and Findlay will face Hillsdale.
